Boys vs. Girls
What are the differences between a boy & girl schnauzer as far as personality goes? After research as well as our previous experiences, this is what we have been able to determine.
BOTH boys and girls are amazing family pets, great with children, loyal, loves to cuddle, affectionate, happy, playful, fun, smart and great companion dogs. YES, they are BOTH great!
We sometimes get asked which gender is better and the best answer we can provide is that it's going to be a personal preference. You can get conflicting answers when you research so the honest answer is whatever fits best with your family.
No matter which one you choose, they are equally just as great.
Now, just like humans, each dog is born with their own unique personality. There can be alpha females, alpha males, fun males or females, high energy males and females as well as shy & timid.
Now that we've touch on personality, does that matter more than gender? Absolutely. Depending on your family type as well as the personality of the dog will make a difference on how your dog fits into your family and your experience. It's all about finding a dog who has the personality that will blend well with your family.
Now, it does make a difference if the puppy has been spayed or neutered. However, it doesn't make much of a difference if you do this while they're still young. There is a difference if you do not spay or neuter.
Most dogs that are unwanted, unfortunately, are the ones that are not spayed or neutered. This is because the family cannot handle with the behavior of a dog that is not spayed or neutered. Research has shown that having your dog spayed or neutered can actually improve the personality of your animal.
Another point that is brought up is that boys lift their legs to mark their territory. This complaint is normally only brought up when a male dog is not neutered. But girls don't? Yes, they just do it in a different manner and yes it is normally related to when they are not spayed.
